Case Study #1: Asbestos

The following letter dated September 12, 1966, is an internal memorandum of Canadian Johns Manville Co. Ltd., (a large asbestos company). It is from Johns Manville's Director of Purchasing to Mr. Noel Hendry, exhibiting a frame of mind which combines humor with callous cruelty and disregard for the dangers of asbestos.

“if you... had a good life
working with asbestos...
why not die from it”

"My answer to the problem is: if you have enjoyed a good life while working with asbestos products, why not die from it. There's got to be some cause."
