Exposure: How It All Began

"Back in the 50s and 60s, I worked in construction and was around lots of asbestos. Even though I never mixed the product myself, I was right there when they mixed it, so I probably got as much of the dust in my lungs as they did."

Getting The Bad News

"During the late 80s and 90s, I was having trouble breathing and coughing. When my doctor told me I had mesothelioma, it was a real shocker. My mother died at age 92, and her older sister died at age 105, so my chances of living a long life were pretty good. With that in mind, I feel the asbestos industry blind-sided me."

Battling

"This battle I have with asbestos cancer has just begun, and already it has changed my life. Anything to do with exercise is very different now. I can walk, but it takes me twice as long to get somewhere. Next year my wife and I will celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary."
